Traffic could be impacted in the western part of town, this Saturday, during the “Best Buddies Challenge” bicycle tour, which will begin in Washington, D.C. around 7 a.m.
Hundreds of riders are expected to participate in a 50-mile and 100-mile bicycle ride that will take them through parts of Loudoun County.
The day will conclude at Morven Park via Old Waterford Road in Leesburg with a gourmet dinner, open bar and a private concert by Sugar Ray for all fundraising participants.
According to Research & Communications Manager Betsy Fields, the route will take riders into Leesburg on the W&OD trail until they get to Loudoun County High School.
They will then head north on Catoctin Circle and cross over West Market Street onto Fairview Avenue to Old Waterford Road.
It is expected that the first riders will begin to pass through Leesburg at about 9:30 a.m., with the slowest riders finishing at approximately 5 p.m. The race is not timed. Motorists are being asked to take caution when driving through town specifically near Catoctin Circle at the W&OD Trail and West Market Street at Catoctin Circle/Fairview Avenue.
