Community Invited to Participate in Fourth of July Parade

The 22nd annual event will take place next Wednesday, beginning at 10 a.m.

The 2012 Town of Leesburg’s Independence Day Celebration will be held on Wednesday, July 4. The day will start off with the Annual Independence Day Parade, held through historic downtown Leesburg.

The parade will kick-off at 10 a.m. from Ida Lee Park, travel south on King Street and conclude at Fairfax Street. Civic groups, youth organizations, community groups, families and others are encouraged to participate in the parade.

No fee is required to participate and pre-registration is encouraged, but is not mandatory. The application for the parade is available online or email rpatania@leesburgva.gov to request a copy of the application.

This year’s parade will also feature the 5th Annual Patriot’s Cup Competition. This award will go the best parade entry and winners will receive their name engraved on the Patriot Cup. 

In preparation for the parade, downtown streets will close at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4. All parade participants must be at Ida Lee Park Front Field by 9 a.m. Parking is available for parade viewers in the Leesburg Town Garage as well as the Loudoun County Garage. Motorists wishing to avoid road closures should use Catoctin Circle as an alternate route.
