Costume Contest Prepares Little Ones for Halloween
The annual Pumpkinville event was held Sunday at the Leesburg Animal Park.
A number of pre-Halloween events were cancelled over the weekend due to cold temperatures and snow. Thankfully, things began to clear up on Sunday, which allowed a costume contest take place at the , in Leesburg.
Small children came to Pumpkinville dressed in various costumes to compete for pumpkins full of candy and surprises. A number of families stuck around after the event to interact with the animals, pick pumpkins and sip free apple cider.
Tonight, the annual Halloween parade, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Leesburg since 1957, will begin at 6 p.m. at Ida Lee Park and will continue south to Fairfax Street.

Portions of King Street will be closed until 8 p.m. Free parking is available in garages next to Leesburg Town Hall and the Loudoun Government Center. Spectators are asked to contribute non-perishable food to Loudoun Interfaith Relief. Collection boxes will be located along King Street.Â
