Five Things: Halloween 2012 Edition

Here's your last chance to participate in Halloween activities in or near Leesburg.

1. The Leesburg Animal Park will continue to host its annual Pumpkinville Fall Fest from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. now through Nov. 6. Along with access to the petting zoo you'll have the chance to enjoy giant hill slides, hay wagon rides, moon bounces, free apples and cider. During the weekend, enjoy live entertainers, face painting, pumpkin painting, mini-tractor rides and a 200-foot-long zip line. 

2. The Night Gallery will host a Halloween party beginning at 7 p.m. this Friday night. Children, teenagers and adults are welcome. Free food and drinks will be provided as well as door prizes. The event will take place at 109 S. King St.

3. The Paxton Campus will host its final weekend of Shocktober, three of Northern Virginia’s scariest haunts in one location, this Friday through Sunday. Enjoy the Haunted Paxton Manor, Funhouse, and The Haunted Well of Souls beginning at 7 p.m. each night. The event is not recommended for children under 13.

4. The Village at Leesburg will host its third annual Monster Mash on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 3 to 7 p.m. The festival will offer children’s activities such as face painting, pumpkin decorating, a balloon twister and more. Enter a costume contest and win prizes for different age groups. Entertainment will include Zombie Jack, Josh Burgess Band and Rocknoceros, a nationally recognized children’s band. Village at Leesburg will also offer giveaways during the event. The evening will conclude with Trick-or-Treating at participating stores and restaurants beginning at 7:30 p.m.

5. The annual Ghosts, Goblins and Ghouls 5K and Scarescrow Spirit Fun Run will take place at the Paxton Campus beginning at 4 p.m. this Saturday. It was originally scheduled for 5 p.m. The event will center on the spooktacular theme of Halloween and incorporate a costume contest, Halloween themed activities, trick or treating and more. Runners are encouraged to run in costume and enter the costume contest just before the race. The Scarescrow Sprint Fun Run is recommended for kids 10 and under.
