Keep the old Post Office in Leesburg Open

Dear Mr. Voorhees,

Find out what's happening in Leesburgwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

I urge you to keep Leesburg's East Market Street (downtown) post office open. Leesburg is a growing town, now comprising more than 42,000 residents. The downtown post office is an important relief valve for the Catocin Circle main offices, which is heavily crowded and has insufficient parking.

USPS opened a carrier annex a few years ago, in lieu of expanding the Catoctin Post office branch. This has done little to alleviate the lines and parking problems on Catoctin Circle.

By closing the old East Market Street post office, several law firms and other businesses in the historic downtown will have to drive to Catoctin Circle to get their mail. I urge you to reconsider closing this downtown location given Leesburg's projected growth and demand for postal services.

If you do close the old post office be prepared for long lines and traffic jams at Catoctin Circle. Please don't do this.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Ken Reid
Leesburg Town Council
