Local Muslims Praise Military for Bringing bin Laden to Justice

The All Dulles Area Muslim Society repudiated bin Laden's "perverse hatred," shared hopes that his death will bring some comfort to the families of 9/11 victims.

The All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) released a statement following Osama bin Laden’s death thanking the military and intelligence community for bringing the al-Qaida mastermind to justice.

The statement goes on to express hope that bin Laden’s death will bring some relief to the families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks, and a defiance of the “perverse hatred of bin Laden’s misguided ideology.”

“We refuse to allow our faith to be held hostage by the despicable criminal actions of a tiny minority acting outside the teachings of both the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him,” the statement reads.

The statement goes on to say that acts of terror, murder and cruelty are not only crimes against innocent life, but a betrayal of the principles of Islam. The society is committed to working with government, law enforcement and interfaith groups to remember the victims of 9/11 and work against violent extremism of all forms.

“ADAMS joins President Obama in praying that as the nation continues to heal from the devastation inflicted upon us all at the hands of Bin Laden and his misguided ilk, we will turn to each other today united, and emerge tomorrow with an even stronger resolve to take every action necessary to protect the precious ideals of our nation, which Bin Laden sought to destroy on 9/11: peace, tolerance, respect, and freedom for all,” said ADAMS Executive Director Imam Mohamed Magid.
