Loudoun County to Host Recycling Event

Residents invited to recycle unwanted electronics Saturday in Ashburn.

Have old electronics? Loudoun County residents have an opportunity to recycle them at the next Loudoun County Electronics Recycling Event, scheduled for this Saturday.  

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Telos Corporation parking lot, at 19886 Ashburn Road in Ashburn.

Acceptable items include

  • Computers
  • Cell phones
  • Cables
  • Extension Cords
  • Printers
  • Televisions
  • Stereo components
  • Electric power tools
  • Christmas lights
  • Small household appliances such as toasters and microwave ovens, curling irons and other electronics.

There will be a $12 recycling fee per television and $3 fee per computer monitor, which may be paid only by cash or check (to CRS Holdings of America).

All other eligible electronics will be accepted at the event free of charge, though there is a limit of 15 items per vehicle. 

Unacceptable items include larger household appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, ovens, stoves, washers, and dryers. Also, printer cartridges, batteries, light bulbs, fluorescent lights, thermostats, or fire alarms will not be accepted.

Two part-time volunteers are also needed to count the number of customers; one from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and one from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Call 703-777-0187 for information or learn more about the event online.
