New Business Makes Customers Feel at Home

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held last Friday to celebrate the grand opening of L Gifts & Home Furnishings, which features a unique collection of furniture, home accessories and décor, gourmet foods and wine.

Product lines include Hancock & Moore, Mixture USA, Votivo, The Gracious Gourmet, Harney & Sons Tea, Savannah Bee Company, L’Epicurean, Taza Chocolates and more.

Owner JoAnn Schimmel said the store is a collective mix of things that she finds and falls in love with. She has always been a decorator, Schimmel said, and she felt it was time to open her own space where she could share some of her favorite things.

“I think it’s like home. When you walk in you get that very comforting feel,” Schimmel said.” I am very relaxed and these are just fun things that I want to share with someone. I’m not here to sell you everything. I’m just here to share.”

Schimmel said she is drawn to things that are different including products that you won’t find anywhere else. Many of the items are unique, she said, and come with a great story to tell.  

That’s why she enjoys being located in the historic downtown area. Schimmel said she loves the architecture and design and really wanted to add something more to it. Everyone has been very welcoming, Schimmel said, and she’s looking forward to her future in downtown Leesburg.

Town Manager John Wells said it’s always nice to see a new business open especially when it’s something different from all of the others.

“It provides for a lot of diversity and a lot of vibrance in terms of having different types of businesses here,” Wells said. “It brings in a wider range of people and they can shop, dine and have an enjoyable time here.”
