Romance Tours To Be Offered at Oatlands

Tours will include love stories and scandalous affairs, which once took place at the plantation

The Oatlands Plantation will offer romance tours and teas this weekend for those who are looking for something to do this Valentines Day.

Eight tours are scheduled to take place, beginning on Saturday, which will include stories of relationships, both good and bad, that once took place on the plantation.

“This weekend will focus strictly on love relationships and scandalous affairs,” said Curator of Collections and Education Kirsten Edwards, who added that everyone loves a good scandalous story. “You're hearing stories that we don't tell on the regular tour. And because it has the romantic side and the scandalous side it has a more intimate look at the families who lived here.”

About ten stories will be offered during each tour including the affair of President Franklin Roosevelt, which was carried out at Oatlands.

This is the first year that the romance tour will be held at the plantation, which doesn't officially open to the public until March 28.
