Visit Loudoun Seeks New Board Members

Individuals who are interested in serving the three-year term are asked to submit their resumes by Friday, Feb. 3.

Visit Loudoun is looking for individuals to serve three-year terms on its Board of Directors, from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2015, with a transition period beginning in April 2012. Resumes must be received by Friday, Feb. 3. The new Board of Directors will be elected by Visit Loudoun’s dues paying members at the Visit Loudoun Annual Meeting and Tourism Awards Luncheon in March 2012.

Visit Loudoun is the destination management organization for Loudoun County and its incorporated towns. As the county’s programmatic arm for tourism, Visit Loudoun promotes the county as a tourism destination, leads the tourism industry to work together to increase visitation and visitor spending, and provides convention and visitor services. Visit Loudoun is a not-for-profit corporation.

The Visit Loudoun Board is comprised of up to 24 elected members. Board terms are staggered so the board benefits from the combined experience of existing members and new members. Board members may apply to serve a second term.

Interested candidates should submit a resume outlining their business/professional career, including any tourism-related experience. This may range from owning a tourism-related business, to having experience in hospitality and/or tourism marketing, to volunteering with a tourism-related organization. Special business skills such as communications and community involvement should also be included.

Three business references should accompany the resume along with a response to the statement: “My service on the Visit Loudoun Board of Directors will help Visit Loudoun and tourism in Loudoun County because….” This response should be no longer than one double-spaced, typed page.
