Destined for 'Cobalt' Blue? Loudoun Politics After Silver Line

Dante Chinni writes about population growth and what may be the new normal for Loudoun County in Politico piece. What do you think?

The big story this week has been the handoff of the new Silver Line to Metro — a significant step in the final months before operation, potentially this summer.

A lot of resident focus on what the new train will mean for their commute, but Dante Chinni writes at Politico that, when phase two is completed, the train may be the final tipping point for a solid Democratic Loudoun County.

One of the more interesting numbers Chinni notes is that nine of the top 10 counties with residents leaving for Loudoun County voted for President Obama in 2012.

"That trend is likely to accelerate post-Silver Line and may move the county from light powder blue to a deep shade of cobalt," Chinni says.
