UPDATE 8:05 p.m. Whitbeck wins two precincts in Loudoun.

UPDATE 8 p.m.: Wexton takes all 10 33rd precincts in Fairfax.
UPDATE 7:50 p.m.: Wexton has won nine of 10 precincts in Fairfax County, and so far has won every precinct that has reported in Loudoun. Some Loudoun precincts are as close as one, two or three votes.

UPDATE 7:42 p.m.: First six of 10 precincts in Fairfax County to report vote for Wexton.
UPDATE 7:40 p.m.: First 10 precincts in Loudoun to report all vote for Wexton.
UPDATE 7:25 p.m.: First four precincts to report in Loudoun (of 39 in the county) all go for Wexton.
UPDATE Jan. 21 7:15 p.m.: Polls are closed. No precincts have yet reports, but results are likely to begin rolling shortly.
Initial story:
The anticipated snow did not stop the special election for Virginia’s 33rd State Senate seat from going forward, so voters are now hitting the polls, encouraged by the county head out early.
We’ll follow the count tonight and report the winner here. Who will it be: Jennifer T. Wexton, the Democrat; John C.L. Whitbeck Jr., the Republican; or Joe T. May, the Republican turned Independent?
