Fairfax County Supervisor John Foust this week announced his intent to seek the Democratic nomination for Virginia’s 10th Congressional District, setting the stage for a primary to determine who will take on incumbent U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf (R).

Richard Bolger, an attorney who lives in Fairfax, previously announced his bid for the nomination.

Foust said he wants Congress to begin functioning again, a criticism lobbed at what some are calling a “do-nothing” Congress because of its lack of legislative achievements.

“Like so many Virginians, my life has been shaped by opportunities that were forged through hard work, but the reckless and irresponsible politics of Washington are holding Americans back from achieving our country’s promise of this opportunity,” said Foust, attaching Wolf to the government shutdown earlier this year.

Foust, who possesses MBA and law degrees, has been a member of the Fairfax Board of Supervisors since 2007 when he defeat the incumbent Republican in a district that had previously been held by Republicans.

A biography of John Foust is attached, and more information is available online at www.foustforvirginia.com.

If Foust and Bolger, and possibly other Democrats, remain in the race next year, a primary will be held to determine Wolf’s challenger in the general election next November.

Wolf has served in the House of Representatives since his election in 1980.
