Hike the Trail and Search for Pollinators on June 7 at the Chapman DeMary Trail!

Explore and Search for
Pollinators at the Chapman DeMary Trail!

Join The Nature Generation and its partners on June 7
from 2 -4 p.m. at the Chapman DeMary Trail for the official opening of the trail Pollinator Plot, including a ribbon
cutting ceremony and other activities.  This American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day® event is a great way to get your family

outside to hike the mile-long trail, check out the new pollinator plot, go on a

nature scavenger hunt about pollinators, and fill a packet of seeds to plant in

your garden. The first 50 people get a free butterfly plant!

During the
event, the Pollinator Plot will officially open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Through the generous donations and support from two of The Nature Generation’s sustainable
partners, Dominion and Sev1Tech, volunteers broke ground and planted the first bulbs, trees, and shrubs in this pollinator friendly habitat last November. The  Pollinator Plot is a 4,000 square foot area designed to provide bees,
butterflies, birds, and other pollinating creatures with the plants they need
to survive.

On Earth
Day, The Nature Generation and trail partners, Loudoun Valley High School
(LVHS) and the Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC), planted milkweed and other plants provided by PEC in the section of the plot that is a certified monarch waystation. The Nature Generation’s National Trails Day event at the Chapman DeMary Trail is a celebration and exploration of pollinators and plants for these amazing creatures.
