Quidditch: Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship

Quidditch. You know that thing from Harry Potter where wizards play a sport while flying on brooms? Well, flying broomsticks may not be included and the players are definitely more likely to be studying physics or business than Charms or Potions, but, nonetheless, quidditch is coming to Leesburg, VA this month. Quidditch is a rapidly growing, exciting, co-ed sport for college students and young adults all over the world and has spawned not only an international league, the IQA, but also an annual, highly anticipated World Cup. Quidditch teams from Pennsylvania to North Carolina will be converging at Loudoun Soccer Park on Saturday, November 23rd and Sunday, November 24th for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship (MARC) to decide who earns the right to represent the region at World Cup VII in Myrtle Beach, SC in April 2014.

With less than two weeks until MARC, this year’s tournament is shaping up to be a positively magical weekend; the entire event is free to attend and a perfect destination for families and fans. In addition to top-tier quidditch action, there will also be great food, exclusive merchandise, and quite a few friendly Harry Potter fans. For the quidditch fans not yet old enough, the weekend will include special “kidditch” sessions, quidditch games with modified rules open to any children wishing to play.
