Ringing In Hope: For the Sake of the Children (5K and 10K Race, 1K Fun Run/Walk)

RINGING IN HOPE INVITES COMMUNITY TO SUPPORT CHARITIES SERVING CHILDREN BY REGISTERING FOR ITS 5K/10K RACE AND 1K FUN RUN/WALK

Organizers bring event to South Riding for the First Time; Volunteers still needed

Ringing In Hope: For the Sake of the Children, featuring a new 5K and 10K race, and a 1K fun run/walk, will take place on September 14, 2013 in South Riding, Virginia.  For the first time, the Ringing In Hope event, which has been serving charities throughout the region since 2010, is bringing its event—which has more than doubled in size since its inception in 2010—to the South Riding area.  The 5K race kicks off in front of in front of South Riding Market Square, located at 25000 Riding Plaza, at 8 a.m., followed by the 10K race at 8:15 am and the 1K Fun Run/Walk at 9:30 a.m.

The Ringing In Hope traditions continue as race participants will enjoy appetizers served at finish line, as well as fun for the whole family to include music, pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, children’s art, a moon bounce, temporary tattoos, and more.

In addition, all race participants will have their photo taken by Chessie Photography as they cross the finish line. Photos will be available following the race for viewing or purchase. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female overall winners in each race, as well as the top three male and female finishers in each of the following age categories (14 and under, 15-19 , 20-29, 30-39, etc.).  Great raffle prizes will be awarded throughout the event, thanks to the many generous community sponsors!

Race beneficiaries for this event include: Make-A-Wish Foundation-Mid Atlantic, Autism Speaks, Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia, Paxton Campus, and Children’s National Medical Center. Participating charities will receive 100 percent of all donations designated on their behalf. Charity representatives will be on hand to showcase their efforts and services to the community.

Ringing In Hope provides online tools allowing race participants to make a profound difference in their community by creating an online fundraising page where they can raise additional funds for their participating charity of choice. This tool allows participants to easily invite friends, family, co-workers, and others to help them achieve and celebrate their personal fitness and fundraising milestones.

Race registration is available in three ways: Online registration is now open at www.ringinginhope.com. Registrants may also register at one of two packet pickup locations, which will be announced on the Ringing In Hope website, or they may register on race day at the race site. All race-day registration will be outside to accommodate growing crowds and will be available starting at 6:30 a.m. on race day. Those who register by August 27th at midnight will be guaranteed an official Ringing In Hope short sleeved t-shirt. All fun run/walk participants will receive bells as they ring in hope for great causes.

The races are being timed by Commonwealth Race Management, a division of Potomac River Running. Commonwealth Race Management brings state-of-the-art timing and professional race management services to the event, allowing race organizers to concentrate their efforts on making Ringing in the Hope a one of a kind event.

Volunteers are still needed to help accommodate growing crowds and assist with the race course duties as well as other activities. High School volunteers are eligible to service credit hours.  All interested volunteers should please e-mail Ringing In Hope at info@ringinginhope.com for more information, or register to volunteer at http://www.ringinginhope.com/volunteer.html.
