Team “Got Pink” will join thousands of women and men in the upcoming Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Washington D.C. May 5-6, to raise funds and awareness to help defeat breast cancer and support those facing the disease.

The team includes Debra Arrington of Hamilton, Diane Guarnieri of Purcellville, and Tracy LeBlanc of Purcellville.  Each walker will complete a marathon (26.2 miles) on Saturday and a half-marathon (13.1 miles) on Sunday.

Team “Got Pink” was inspired to take part in the Avon Walk to make a difference in the lives of the women and their families who are suffering the devastating effects of this disease. “My sister, Heather, had a long struggle with breast cancer,” said Tracy LeBlanc. “She sadly lost her battle in 2006, leaving behind four children and her husband. Seeing up close the realities of what breast cancer does to a person and their family is a humbling experience. So, as the saying goes, we are in it to end it.”

Funds raised by Team “Got Pink” and the thousands of other Avon Walk participants are awarded by the Avon Foundation for Women (a 501(c)(3) public charity), to help make sure anyone facing a breast cancer diagnosis gets the care they need regardless of their ability to pay, and to help fund breast cancer research.
