Harris Teeter Donates $10,000 to Loudoun Interfaith Relief

Loudoun Interfaith Relief (LIR), Loudoun County’s largest food pantry, announced Friday, July 11 the company has received a matching donation of $10,000 from Harris Teeter as part of its 10 for 10 campaign.

Thanks to funds raised through Harris Teeter’s annual “Food Bank” golf tournament in the company’s hometown of Charlotte, N.C., LIR’s collective total now stands at $21,000.

“Harris Teeter’s charitable focus is that of supporting its hunger-relief partners in each of our marketing areas,” said Catherine Becker, communication manager for Harris Teeter. “When we heard about 10 For 10, we told LIR that we wanted to use a portion of our tournament’s proceeds to match all donations made to the campaign up to its original goal.”

The 10 For 10 campaign’s goal was to raise $10,000 in 10 weeks to distribute extra food to families with school-aged children. Through LIR’s Summer Pack Program, more than 3,000 families can have high-quality, nutritious meals when free and reduced-priced school meals are not available during the summer months.
