Easter Resurrection Day Banquet in Leesburg

Many adults and children will now have the opportunity to read the Bible at home, for some it will be the first time in their own language.

This past Saturday, April 12th, the Lord gave us the opportunity to celebrate the Easter Resurrection Day (“Jesus Is Risen”) Banquet with our international friends from all over the world. Pastor Alan Stanford, Pastor Jason Baird, and other staff members have been very gracious, and again opened up Leesburg Community Church for us to celebrate this highest point of the Christian Church year in America. The Banquet was from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m.

There were about 120 people (guests and volunteers) who came to the afternoon gathering. Many of the guests were students of ESL classes at International Learning Center-Leesburg, which meets at HealthWorks on Fort Evans Road.

The people who attended represented 27 countries: Armenia, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Cameroon, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Malaysia, Mexico, North Korea, South Korea, Nepal, Pakistan, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Senegal, Singapore, Spain, USA, and Venezuela.

Pastor John Yera (LCC) gave a brief word of devotion and opening prayer for the Banquet.

Pastor Carlos Penazola from Ekklesia Church in Reston gave a very powerful and hopeful message in Spanish (with translation into English) about the resurrection.

Pastor Bud Siegel (Restored Life Fellowship) and Raj Daniel (The Worship Center) led us into a wonderful time of worship.

Worship dance group from Ekklesia blessed us with two special presentations on the theme of Jesus the Risen King of Glory.

Joana Abraham (Cornerstone Chapel) blessed us with a special song.

Saydee Phifer and her mom (Blue Ridge Bible Church) made the beautiful “Jesus Is Risen” banner on the day of the event!

Kelly Yang (Reston Bible Church) and LCC children’s ministry volunteers helped the immigrant children to enjoy American Easter traditions.

Volunteers from Korean Central Presbyterian Church, led by David Shin, provided delicious Korean food for all the guests.

Volunteers from Open Door Presbyterian Church, Hagerstown Korean Church, Cherrydale Baptist Church, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Cedar Run Community Church, The Community Church, Crossroads Baptist Church and other churches also helped with setup, cleanup, and donations for food, drinks and gift Bibles.

Special thanks to our ILC-Leesburg ESL volunteer teachers:

As parting gifts to our guests, many received adult and/or children’s Bibles. We gave away the following Bibles: 10 bilingual Spanish-English, 3 Arabic, 3 Farsi, 2 Urdu, 1 Nepali, 1 Portuguese, 4 English, 15 “Jesus Storybook” and 10 “Beginner’s Bible”. May the Holy Spirit draw our international friends to the Risen Lord through His Word! Pray for the Holy Spirit to move in the hearts of the adults and children who are reading the Bible at home, for some it will be the first time in their own language.

Our deepest thanks and praise to our Lord Jesus Christ, who went to the cross, suffered and died, and rose again from the dead…conquering sin, death and Satan…so that we might live!

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

Thanks to all of you who prayed, donated, or helped in various ways with our Easter (Resurrection Day) Banquet for ILC-Leesburg (ESL school here in Leesburg).

Hallelujah, Jesus Is Risen!

Joyfully in Christ,

Rev. James & Faith Cha
