Obituary: Robert H. Skidmore Jr.

Robert (Bob, Bobby, Uncle Bobby) Skidmore 1949-2013 lived life on his own terms.

He loved chocolate, buying televisions and flashlights, and feeding the birds in the backyard. In his 20s, Bobby sold everything he owned and paddled the entire length of the Mississippi in a canoe, living out his dream of being Tom Sawyer.

Bobby left behind a much-loved sister (except as children when he tried to hang her) Pam and his brother-in-law Jim who was his favorite to sit on the back porch and smoke with.

There are also many stray cats in the neighborhood that will miss their friend feeding them every morning. He was a faithful supporter of the Humane Society and Wounded Warriors charities and believed in giving back to the community. Bobby was also a Republican, but we don't hold that against him, and follower of current events. You could always find Bobby watching an NCIS marathon or Discovery Channel show, in between walks in the woods with his favorite dog Blue.

Bobby will be missed by many including Gary, Lori, Donnie, Grant, Jimmy, Laura, Maggie, Peyton, Caden, Mairin, and many friends all over the country. Every time it storms we are comforted knowing that it is Bobby and his sister B.J up there bowling.
