Obituary: Stanley Earl Rollison, 80

Stanley Earl Rollison, 80, passed away Sept. 20, 2013, at his home in Leesburg, VA, from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Stanley was born in Leesburg on Feb. 17, 1933. He was predeceased by his father, George William Rollison and his mother, Mattie Bertie Kemper.

Stanley Graduated from Leesburg High School in 1951 and went to work for the U.S. Department of Defense in Washington, DC, and attended Capital Radio Engineering Institute at night.

Stanley left the DOD to gain electronics experience working for Melpar Inc. in Falls Church, VA. He left Melpar to work for DECO Electronics Inc. in Leesburg from April 1962 to June 1966, when DECO was bought by Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Stanley stayed with Westinghouse until April 1975 and then was employed by Traffic Engineers Supply Corporation in Alexandria, VA, for six months followed by Telcom Inc. in Vienna, VA until April 1977. Then he was employed by Carrier Telephone Corporation in Falls Church from June 1977 to February 1980 followed by Household Data Services Inc. in Reston, VA. He attended night classes in electronics program, at NVCC during the 1980s.

His high school friend, William Tincher, recommended Stanley for an electronics technician position at the Naval Research Laboratories in Washington, DC, where he had the opportunity to work on some units for one of the space shuttles, which he considered the highlight of his electronics career. Stanley retired from the Naval Research Laboratories in 1994.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Evelyn Ruth Moreland Rollison; his sister and brother-in-law, Florence Elizabeth Rollison Lemieux and Douglas Dwayne Lemieux; and a nephew, James Anthony Lemieux, all of Leesburg.  Another nephew, Raymond Edward Lemieux, and his daughter, Crystal Shannon, and her infant son, Trenton Derick Lemieux DeWitt, reside in Richmond, VA.
