Bringing Nightlife to Downtown Leesburg

Bringing Nightlife to Downtown Leesburg

Leesburg, VA, - Shoe’s Cup & Cork supports the passage of a measurable and well defined Noise Ordinance for the Town of Leesburg. It is imperative to the success of Shoe’s Cup & Cork, and the growth of Downtown Leesburg as an arts and entertainment destination, that outdoor live music be allowed with the passage of the proposed change to the Noise Ordinance.

There needs to be a fundamental choice regarding the types of businesses, which will be encouraged in the Downtown area. If we are expanding sidewalks and encouraging patios and gardens for outdoor dining and entertainment, there is going to be music and noise, and the laws regulating these activities need to be reasonable and predictable, and need to accommodate both entertainment and sleeping hours.

Outdoor music is an essential aspect of the burgeoning nightlife being cultivated in Downtown Leesburg. A decibel-based noise ordinance that is well defined and measurable, and frankly, high enough to allow folk musicians and the like to play during weekend evening hours encourages a vibrant, viable downtown.

There is a Town Council meeting on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in the council chambers at 25 West Market St at 7:30pm.

We request everyone’s support by either attending in person, signing the Save our Sound petition online and/or writing a letter to our Town Council asking that it be read into the record. Without your support there will be no outdoor live music in Downtown Leesburg.” Shoe’s Cup & Cork
