Greatly Disappointed by Virginia Republican Officials and Candidates

I'm very discouraged with the morals and common sense within the Virginia Republican party. It has become a national embarrassment because of questionable judgment and rightwing intolerance, creating party division.

Governor McDonnell is under investigation for failing to report significant gifts from Star Scientific, and there are rumors of his resignation.

Attorney General Cuccinelli initially failed to disclose gifts from and stock in Star Scientific. He claims he didn’t know about the McDonnell investigation for several months - although this is his job. He forced a nomination convention to ensure ultra right candidate selection – most notably himself for governor. He twice demanded unfounded legal investigations into climate change research at UVa, which were cleared.

Lt Governor candidate and minister EW Jackson is well-known for controversial attacks on LGBTs, abortion, Obama and Medicare/Medicaid. He also suggested in his 2008 book that meditation may lead the devil to invade your soul, and has a past record of business bankruptcies and tax liens.

Loudoun County Board of Supervisors member Eugene Delgaudio escaped misuse of office charges on technicalities. He showed signs of mental health issues during an independent investigation by the Board last October. Delgaudio is executive director of the controversial conservative Public Advocate of the US, a designated hate group.

House of Delegates candidate David LaRock is on probation for a misdemeanor charge of destruction of another person’s property, and has provided purposely misleading and disrespectful statements both in print and in person.

Virginia Republicans with integrity and good judgment will not vote along party lines in November.
