Dear Editor,
We want to thank United Way of the National Capital Area and the many area businesses and individuals that contribute to our organizations and the local residents that we serve.
United Way of the National Capital Area (United Way NCA) has been supporting Loudoun’s nonprofits for many years. As the beneficiaries of $157,000 in grants through the United Way NCA Community Impact Fund this year, we (Ayuda, ECHOworks, Good Shepherd Alliance, Help for Others, Just Neighbors Ministry, Legal Services of Northern Virginia, Lions Club of Sterling Charities, Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter, Loudoun Interfaith Relief, Loudoun Literacy Council, Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers, Northern Virginia AIDS Ministry, Northern Virginia Dental Clinic, Northern Virginia Family Service, and Volunteers of America Chesapeake) know firsthand how United Way NCA contributions are having a life-transforming impact in the lives of Loudoun residents 24/7 – 365 days a year.
It is not just the Community Impact Fund grants that we are receiving. Every year generous residents and corporations are designating thousands of dollars in additional funds - through United Way NCA - to dozens of Loudoun’s nonprofit organizations. These funds are helping us provide services for the hungry, homeless, elderly, autistic, mentally ill, uninsured, abused and neglected, unemployed, and so many others that can benefit from a community that cares.
This fall, United Way NCA will again kick off its annual campaign. Area residents and corporations can contribute to Loudoun’s Community Impact Fund and count on a local grant review team of knowledgeable volunteers to distribute funds to deserving nonprofits and programs. Of course, there is always the option to designate your gifts directly to the nonprofits of your choice. Either way, it is our community that wins as local nonprofits stretch your contribution to efficiently serve those most in need.
Thanks again to all of you who give through United Way NCA. The Loudoun community is all the better because of your generosity.
Sincerely,
Ms. Nicole Acosta, Executive Director, LAWS
