Restaurant Review: Mama Lucci's

Patch editor Leah Kosin visited the local restaurant, which features authentic Italian, Greek and Middle Eastern meals.

I decided to pay a visit to  earlier this week, one of 14 restaurants participating in Meatless Mondays. Their special menu included an eggplant lasagna and a Caprese salad sandwich served with pesto on Ciabatta bread.

I went ahead and ordered the sandwich, which featured fresh mozzarella, basil, and sliced tomatoes. While waiting for it to arrive, I ordered a cup of their cream of crab soup, a creamy white base with a hint of onions, celery, and carrots.

It was a little on the salty side but very delicious. I would have no problem ordering it again.

The sandwich took a little longer to come out then I would have expected. There were only three other tables occupied in the restaurant. However, my only disappointment was the size of the sandwich. Compared to the side of fries, it looked really small. The nice thing was that I didn't feel overwhelmingly full when I was finished and nothing went wasted on my plate.

Which only meant one thing...dessert. I decided to order the Tiramasu, an Italian treat made with ladyfingers, Mascarpone cheese, flavored liquor and cocoa.

Once again, I was a bit surprised by the wait. When the cake arrived, I realized that the majority of the slice was frozen. I've never had frozen Tiramasu, but upon some research I read that it can be served that way. It wasn't bad but I think I might have enjoyed it more had it been served a little differently.

What I enjoyed most about my visit is the fact that the staff was very friendly. You could tell that they have a great following and that they were eager to converse with everyone who was there.
