250-Pound Black Bear Dies When Hit By Truck

Large bear ran into the roadway near Leesburg, according to reports.

A 250-pound black bear died when it was hit by a pickup truck near Leesburg, according to reports, including Leesburg Today. The incident was reported on Route 15. The bear died upon impact.

Virginia State Police spokesperson Corinne Geller noted the bear ran into the roadway near Gap Road, causing the collision, according to The Washington Post.

Conservation Police officer M. DiLuigi told Leesburg Today the bear was larger than he usually sees. The paper reports, "Generally, his office deals with bears about 75 to 100 pounds and around 18 months old. At 250 pounds and close to 5 years old this animal 'was a much bigger bear,' he said."
