Bus Driver Issued Citation in Friday Crash

Schools vehicle was traveling from Heritage High School to a swim meet in Manassas.

The driver of a bus that crashed enroute to a high school swim meet Friday — closing Route 15 for two hours — has been issued a citation for failure to yield right of way, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

The bus left Heritage High School in Leesburg with 41 students on board around 5:18 p.m. Friday, LCSO spokeswoman Liz Mills said.

When the driver of the school bus turned onto Route 15 from Masons Lane, it went "into the path of a northbound 1997 Ford F250," deputies wrote in a report.
