Crime: Big Shoplifter Arrested Two Months Later

Suspect had allegedly stolen $13,000 in merchandise, and more from the monthly Leesburg Police Crime Report.

The Leesburg Police Department released it's monthly crime report for February.

The information includes a list of notable "snapshot events:"

  1. An employee from a mall store recognized a suspect from a $13,000 larceny that occurred in December 2013. The employee took a picture of the suspect and officers were able to identify and obtain warrants for grand larceny 
  2. Investigators charged an individual with check fraud. He stole $7450 from his grandfather in order to support a heroin addiction 
  3. Three young men were accosted and subsequently robbed in the 700 blk of Godfrey Ct. Through aggressive and coordinated work by both patrol and investigative units, two suspects were quickly identified and arrested 
  4. As a result of the major snowstorms experienced during the month, the department implemented its snow emergency plans to include establishing its Emergency Operations Center. This center coordinated department and town activities during the emergency and coordinated with the Loudoun County Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
