Crime Reports: $2,400 Shoplifting Arrest, $12,000 in Pot and a Burglary Call Turns Into Heroin Arrest

Notable arrests and calls from the Leesburg Police Department's crime report.

The following notable calls were provided by the Leesburg Police Department's monthly crime report for January, 2014. Read the entire report here.

1. Narcotics Distribution – January 30 - Detectives seized 4lbs of marijuana with a street value of $12,000; a 22 yr. old Ashburn, VA resident charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute. 

2. Shoplifting / Organized Retail Theft – January 8 - Officers responded to check on a report of subjects with booster bags at the mall. A subject driving a vehicle registered in NJ was seen speeding away from the area and subsequently stopped. Investigation led to an arrest and the recovery of $2400 in merchandise stolen from 6 stores. 

3. Burglary Investigation – January 6 – Units responded to a report of a burglary in progress. Inside the building officers discovered 2 suspects in a computer room snorting a drug later identified as heroin. Force was needed to apprehend the suspects who were charged with criminal trespass and drug possession. 

4. Robbery – January 5 - A suspect pushed an attendant at a local gas station from the register and removed cash. A search of the area was conducted with negative results. 

5. Emergency commitment – January 30 – Officers responded to a residence for a reported suicide in progress. On scene officers found a female with cut wounds. After interviewing her, officers took her to a local Emergency Room for an evaluation by Mental Health.
