Guilty Plea in Middleburg Bank Attempted Robbery

Peggy Membreno faces 10 years in prison for the failed attempt.

A woman arrested in December following the unsuccessful robbery of the Middleburg Bank at 102 Catoctin Circle SE in Leesburg pleaded guilty July 27 to one count of attempted robbery.

Peggy Virginia Membreno, 49, of no fixed address, and indicated she was armed. The teller did not give money to Membreno, who remained in the bank until officers with the Leesburg Police arrived.

Membreno remains in the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond, awaiting her final sentencing hearing Nov. 9 at 10:00 a.m. in Loudoun Circuit Court.
