LCSO Investigates Unauthorized Removal of Display
An official statement was released by the LCSO in regards to an investigation that is being conducted as to whether criminal violations occurred during the unauthorized removal of a courthouse display.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office has issued the following statement regarding the Santa display that was placed in front of the Loudoun County Courthouse on Monday, Dec. 5:
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office became aware of an incident involving a pre-approved display on the Loudoun County Courthouse lawn. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office was aware of a resident dismantling one of the items, but are not involved in the approval process and do not have information on who is responsible for each display.

It later came to our attention that the resident dismantling the display was not the applicant who erected the item. It is our understanding the item was later removed by the applicant.
The Sheriff’s Office is conducting a thorough investigation into this matter to determine what, if any, criminal violations have occurred and potential charges. At this time no formal complaint has been received by the agency regarding this incident.
