Leesburg Man Charged Following Burglaries of Two Businesses in Town

Nothing was reported taken in the alleged crimes; surveillance video, witness help ID suspect.

A Leesburg man has been charged with two counts of breaking and entering following a reported burglary at the Battery Warehouse in Leesburg, according to a report from the Leesburg Police Department.

The Leesburg Police Department dispatched officers to the South King Street business just before 1 a.m. July 23 following reports that the glass of a front door was been broken and an unknown person was inside.

Around 5:30 a.m., police received reports of another burglary at the Roy Rogers Restaurant on King Street. In that incident, glass to a door was broken to obtain entry.

Responding officers located a man in the area who matched the suspect’s description. A witness identified the man as the suspect and officers transported the suspect to headquarters for interrogation, according to the report. Surveillance video from both businesses also helped identify the suspect. Nothing was reported taken in either incident. 

Officers subsequently charged Charles Preston Veney, 50, of Leesburg, with breaking and entering; he is being held without bond at the Loudoun Adult Detention Center.
