Leesburg Man Sentenced for Eight Counts of Possession of Sexually Explicit Material

A Leesburg man in possession of more than 21,000 child pornography images and videos has been sentenced on eight felony charges of Possession of Sexually Explicit Material.

A Leesburg man in possession of more than 21,000 child pornography images and videos has been sentenced on eight felony charges of Possession of Sexually Explicit Material.

Edward Pomeroy Staudt Jr., 62, of Leesburg, has been sentenced to a total active sentence of two years and six months in the Virginia Department of Corrections after appearing before Loudoun County Circuit Court Monday, June 23, according to a press release. He received an additional 18 years and six months of suspended time and will be placed on 10 years of supervised probation upon his release.

In Oct. 2013, Virginia State Police linked Staudt's IP address to a peer-to-peer network site for sharing child pornography. After obtaining a search warrant, officials confiscated computers, hard drives, CDs and VHS tapes from Staudt's residence. Forensic analysis revealed Staudt was in possession of 21,000 child pornography images and 913 child pornography videos.

Staudt pleaded guilty to eight counts of possession of Sexually Explicit Visual Material March 10, 2014.
