Leesburg Officer Injured During Training Exercise

The incident continues to be under internal review. The officer has been treated and released from Inova Loudoun Hospital.

A Leesburg Police officer was injured on Tuesday during a training exercise held at police headquarters.

According to Master Police Officer Christopher Tidmore, the 34-year-old officer, whose name has not been released, received a superficial injury as the result of an accidental discharge of a firearm that was in the possession of another Leesburg police officer. 

The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The injured officer was immediately transported to Loudoun Inova Hospital where he was treated and released. The incident continues to be under internal review by the department.
