Leesburg Police Investigate Multiple Auto Tampering Incidents

At least four reports were made between April 20 and 21 regarding vehicles that had been damaged or broken into.

The Leesburg Police Department Communications Center received numerous complaints on April 21 for a total of 17 tampering with auto and or "theft of motor vehicle parts."

During the evening hours of April 20 and into the early morning of April 21, an unknown suspect or suspects, damaged and or stole the manufacturer emblems from multiple cars in the southeast area of the town. Officers responded to the following areas to meet with victims:

  • The 100 and 200 block of Shirley Square, SE
  • The 100 block of Burnell Place, SE
  • The 100 block of Cagney Terrace, SE 
  • The 200 block of Park Gate Drive, SE.

Officers investigating one incident in the 200 block of Park Gate Drive, SE did recover one emblem.

Investigating officers spoke with one person who saw three male subjects running from the area of Carney Terrace, SE, in the early morning hours of 4-21-2012, who may have been involved.   

They were reported to have appeared to be in their teens. One was described as having a “husky” build. They could not provide any other descriptors of the persons they saw running from the area.
