Leesburg Police Investigate Shots Apparently Fired at Home

One lane of Catoctin Circle closed as officers seek information from residents who may have information about gunshots reported Sunday night.

UPDATE: The only marked vehicle that remained near either block in the gunshot investigation was a Virginia State Police truck.

Leesburg Police officers are seeking more information after finding bullet casings Sunday night along Valley View Avenue and damage to a home on Catoctin Circle reported early Monday morning.

Police officers are investigating the incidents and whether they are related.

Multiple reports of gunshots in the area of Valley View Avenue SW and Catoctin Circle were made to the police department around 9:45 a.m. June 2, according to a report from the Leesburg Police Department.

Officers reporting to the scene found no damage. No injuries were reported, according to a statement from police, but several bullet casing were located along the 200 block of Valley View Avenue.

At about 4:25 a.m. Monday, a resident of the 100 block of Catoctin Circle SW reported there appeared to be bullet holes on the side of the structure.

Leesburg Police detectives with the Criminal Investigations Section were on the scene this morning, but most had wrapped up their work by noon; a Virginia State Police truck was the only marked vehicle remaining on the scene. There were no injuries reported related to the damaged home. One lane of Catoctin Circle was closed in the area as officers continue the investigation, but traffic can get by.
