UPDATE: Multiple Vehicle Crash Causes Fatality

The Leesburg Police are currently investigating a multiple car accident near the Rt. 7 and Rt. 15 bypass. Roads remain closed.

The Leesburg Bypass is finally open following a multiple vehicle accident, which has claimed one life. Leesburg Police responded to the Rt. 7 Bypass between the Dulles Greenway, Route 267, exit and the area of the S King Street exits shortly after 1 p.m. Their investigation continued throughout the day. 

As of Wednesday evening, a cause for the accident had not been released. Names were also being withheld.

The Leesburg Police Department is currently on the scene of a serious car crash involving one fatality on the Rt. 7 Bypass between the Greenway, Route 267, exit and the area of the S King Street exits.   

The bypass has been shut down to all traffic. Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes. Traffic updates are as follows:

· Route 15 northbound (South King Street) cannot exit onto the Route 7 bypass eastbound.

· Eastbound traffic on the Route 7 Bypass is being diverted onto South King Street to avoid the crash investigation area.

· The Route 7 Bypass does have one lane of traffic open in the area of the crash and is moving slowly.
