Police: $70,000 in Damage at Purcellville Park Space

Work truck used to tear up Franklin Park grounds and structures, according to Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Most of Franklin Park is now open after deputies spent the weekend investigating a burglary and significant vandalism at the Purcellville site. 

The damage was discovered Saturday morning, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Sometime in the overnight hours, vandals accessed a work truck and damaged the park grounds and structures, according to a police statement. The damage is currently estimated to cost $70,000.

On Monday, the county reopened the park to normal operations, except for field No. 1, which will be closed until further notice.

If the information leads to an arrest and indictment, the caller could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.

Also this weekend, deputies responded to a call of damage to a Round Hill Golf Course. On Sunday morning, it was found that unknown subjects had entered the Stoneleigh Golf Course and damaged several golf carts. LCSO notes the carts were used to drive around the grounds, damaging the greens.
