Police: Man Caught Filming Women At Leesburg Wegmans

A West Virginia man has been arrested and charged with allegedly using a small video camera to film women while shopping at the Leesburg Wegmans. 

A Loss Prevention Officer at Wegmans called the Leesburg Police Department at 3:18 p.m. June 17 when he noticed a suspicious man inside the store, located at 101 Crosstrail Boulevard SE.

The officer told police he was monitoring the supermarket's in-store security camera, and noticed the man was using a shopping basket to point a small video camera in the direction of female customers wearing dresses, according to a police report.

The man was stopped by Leesburg police, whose investigation revealed six women had been captured by the camera. Two of them were identified by police. 

After securing warrants, police arrested Michael A. Toler, 46, of West Virginia, on June 24 and charged him with two counts of unlawful filming, videotaping or photographing.

He was released on a $2,500 bond, police said. 

His arraignment is pending.
