Snow Truck Driver Killed in Ashburn Crash

A truck contractor was struck and killed by another truck in the snow on an Ashburn road early Thursday morning, according to the Virginia State Police.

The crash occurred at around 5:30 a.m. on Belmont Ridge Road at the intersection with Chesterton Street.

The Virginia Department of Transportation contractor had pulled his truck off to the right shoulder and was standing at the rear of the truck when he was struck by another VDOT dump truck, according to a statement by state police spokesperson Corinne N. Geller.

The contractor was transported to Loudoun Hospital Center, where he died, Geller said. The worker's name has not been released, because the family is currently being notified.

The driver of the second dump truck was not injured in the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
