State Police: Fatal Shooting Involves Officer in Purcellville

VSP's Police Shooting Investigative Team is conducting the investigation.

Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting at a home in Purcellville, according to VSP spokesperson Corinne Geller.

At 2:24 p.m. Saturday, Virginia State Police was requested by the Purcellville Police Department, Geller said in a statement. 

The officer was not injured in the incident, she said. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Police Shooting Investigative Team is conducting the investigation.

The Washington Post notes that the Purcellville Police Department has 15 officers serving about 8,300 residents.
