Current council member Tom Dunn and and Vice Mayor Dave Butler have officially submitted their bids to run for mayor in the upcoming November town elections. Voters will choose candidates to fill three town council seats and the mayoral seat

Incumbent Mayor Kristen Umstattd has served on Leesburg’s Town Council since 1992 and is planning to run for her sixth two-year term.

Butler and Dunn previously ran in the election of 2010, in which Umstattd won by a margin of just under 300 votes. According to Loudoun Town Council, Butler needs a few more signatures to be officially considered for the position.

The Leesburg town elections will take place Nov. 4. The deadline to file for candidacy was June 10.
