Catoctin Closure for Storm Drain Work Extended Through Thursday

Beginning Aug. 23, the road will have just one lane open until the town completes the project.

After running into problems with utility lines, the closure of Catoctin Circle will be extended through Thursday, Aug. 22.

The Town of Leesburg Public Works Department on Aug. 19 began the project to replace a storm drainage pipe that runs under Catoctin Circle SW, just north of the W&OD Trail.

Catoctin was closed for the project and will remain closed to all traffic from Dry Mill Road SW to Rosemeade Place SW. Detour signs are in place to direct traffic to alternate routes.

Beginning Friday, Aug. 23, Catoctin will have just one lane open in the same area until Aug. 30. Flag crews will control and direct traffic.

The lane closures remain in effect throughout each day. Work begins each day at 7 a.m. and lasts until 5 p.m. Inclement weather, mechanical breakdown or other unforeseen problems could cause the construction schedule to be extended further.
