Councilwoman Katie Hammler Elected As VML Town Section Chair

Hammler was unanimously elected Tuesday evening during VML's annual conference

Leesburg Town Council Member Katie Hammler was unanimously elected as the Town Section Chair of the VML Executive Committee during the Virginia Municipal League's (VML) annual conference, in Henrico County, Tuesday night. Towns throughout the Commonwealth voted for Hammler who currently serves as chair of VML’s Community and Economic Policy Committee and is a member of VML’s Legislative Committee.

“I am sincerely honored that the Town voting members elected me to represent their interests on VML's Executive Committee,” Hammler said. “I would particularly like to thank Lovettsville Mayor Elaine Walker, Vienna Mayor Jane Seeman, and Purcellville Mayor Bob Lazaro for their support. This is a tremendous opportunity to help formulate General Assembly legislative priorities to achieve the positive change our citizens expect of us as their local elected leaders.”

According to Leesburg Mayor Kristen Umstattd, Hammler has worked tirelessly with her VML colleagues on multiple issues. Her hard work has been recognized and she deserves tremendous credit. The entire council is very proud of her, Umstattd said.
