Extra Yard Waste Collection Days Begin May 5 in Leesburg

The additional weekly yard waste collection will continue through the last full week of September.

Beginning the first full week of May, residential customers within the corporate limits of the Town of Leesburg who receive curbside trash and recycling collection will have yard waste collected twice a week. The additional weekly yard waste collection will continue through the last full week of September.

Customers in the Southeast and Southwest quadrants (includes South King Street and West Market Street) will have yard waste collected on Mondays and Thursdays, from May 5 through September 25, 2014.

Customers in the Northeast and Northwest quadrants (includes North King Street) will have yard waste collected on Tuesdays and Fridays, from May 6 through September 26, 2014.

Yard waste is limited to grass clippings, leaves, weeds and small twigs. Yard waste must be placed at the curb by 6:00am on the day of collection, in brown paper bags or in cans marked with Town of Leesburg “Yard Waste” stickers. Residents can get stickers via mail by contacting the Leesburg Public Works Department at 703-771-2790 or trash@leesburgva.gov. Stickers are also available from the receptionist at Town Hall (25 West Market Street).

The following additional restrictions apply to yard waste:

• No plastic bags or boxes
• Do not mix yard waste with trash or recycling
• No dirt, mulch, root balls, rocks or sod

After September 26, 2014, yard waste will be collected once a week on customers’ normal recycling collection day. For more information, please visit the Town website at www.leesburgva.gov/trash.
