Leesburg, Loudoun Personal Property, Car Taxes Due Oct. 7

Residents are reminded to take payments to a local office, get them in the mail or make them online.

It’s tax time! The deadline to pay Leesburg personal property tax bills is Monday, Oct. 7.

The Town offers several convenient payment options:

The Customer Self-Service Portal allows taxpayers to pay online with an eCheck or credit card (MasterCard, VISA or Discover) at www.leesburgva.gov/payments. Official Payments Corporation, the Town’s third-party vendor charges 2.85 percent, with a minimum fee of $3.95, each time the service is used. Leesburg receives no portion of this fee.

Mail a check or credit card payment using the payment stub and envelope that were enclosed with the bill. If paying by check, one check can be used to pay more than one tax bill. If paying multiple tax bills with one check, please include the tear-off remittance slip for each bill being paid with the check in the return envelope. If paying by credit card, complete the credit card portion of the stub along with signature and mail it in the envelope sent with the bill. The Town accepts MasterCard, VISA, American Express and Discover.

Use the secure Night Depository Box at any time.  The drop box is located outside the Town Hall, at the corner of Wirt and Market Streets. There is also a drop box in the first floor hallway by the Finance Department.

Pay over the phone with eCheck or a credit card by dialing 800-272-9829. Use jurisdiction code 6203 to process the payment. A convenience fee of 2.85 percent of the total transaction amount, with a minimum fee of $3.95, is applied each time the service is used. Leesburg receives no portion of this fee.

Pay in person at Town Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. 

Personal property tax relief is available for one vehicle for elderly and permanently disabled residents whose net worth does not exceed $195,000 and whose annual household income does not exceed $52,000.
