LTE: LaRock Is the Best Choice to Cut Spending

A letter offers support for 33rd House of Delegates candidate who defeated Joe May in primary.

Dear Editor,

It’s sad to say that in this day and age, with so many college-educated “intelligent” people, many American’s do not know how to live within their means and stick to a basic budget. We live in a culture that does not value fiscal conservatism, because it forces people to show restraint and place limitations on their spending habits. Our political leaders are excellent examples of this, having forgotten how to restrain their spending problem, and why wise spending is so important to prosperity and growth. They print money and assume our debt problem will fix itself, instead of addressing the problems directly, such as making wise fiscal decisions and cutting wasteful spending.

Last year’s huge tax increase here in Virginia shows how the contest over sensible spending and taxation will be one of the major challenges for this state over the next few years. We need more leaders who will stand up to the wasteful spending in Richmond and look for solutions, leaders with a record of making wise fiscal decisions. So far in his campaign for Delegate and in his more than 25 years as a small business owner, Dave LaRock has called for openness and accountability in funding decisions. Hopefully we all can agree that despite our differences on social issues, we need to elect leaders who will cut wasteful spending and bring fiscal responsibility to Richmond.

I personally have been spending a great deal on taxes, month to month, creating quite a fiscal burden on my family.
