Obama Supporters Open Leesburg Office

Local supporters of President Obama celebrated the grand opening of the Organizing for America’s Loudoun Headquarters in Leesburg on Sunday.

Along with offices in Prince William, Fairfax, Newport News, Petersburg, Fredericksburg, Danville, Charlottesville and Richmond, the new location, 56 Sycolin Road SE, will serve as a community hub for 2012 election activities.  It was one of three new offices, which opened over the weekend.

“We’ve been waiting a while for this day so I’m really excited,” said Team Leader Dan Lloyd, adding that Leesburg is central to all of Loudoun County.

The new space will allow volunteers an area to work other than their home. It will be a place where voters can come to register, learn about this year’s election while showing their full support, he said.

“This is a historic moment for our country,” Lloyd said. “I think Barack Obama is the right man with the right message at the right time for our country. I believe he has made decisions putting our country on the right path forward and I just think we need to keep that momentum.”

Senator Mark Herring (D) was among a large number of supporters who attended Sunday’s event. The suburban areas in Virginia are going to be very critical, he said, during this election year.

“I think its great that there’s a field office right here in Leesburg,” Herring said. “Loudoun and Prince William are going to be very, very important and we’re going to work as hard as we can to re-elect the President.”
