Opposing Sides Prepare for Ballpark Hearing

Opponents and supporters of the proposed One Loudoun stadium at One Loudoun organize.

The proposed stadium at One Loudoun that would serve as home field for professional baseball and soccer teams goes to a public hearing before the Loudoun Planning Commission today, and both supporters and opponents plan to express themselves.

One Loudoun developers Miller & Smith and North American Sekisui House LLC requested the land use changes to consider alternatives. The team once had hoped to start play in 2012, but now is targeting a 2014 start.

Some residents who live near the proposed stadium site, particularly those in Potomac Green have formed an opposition group called No Stadium on Route 7, the members of which plan to speak at the hearing, which begins at 6 p.m. at the Loudoun County Government Center.

The Hounds have called for a 4:45 p.m. rally in support of the stadium ahead of the hearing.

If approved, a new Northern American Soccer League team called Virginia Cavalry FC will also play at the ballpark.

Is the hearing regarding the Don Quixote-like illegal folly of 'One Loudoun Stadium' scheduled for this evening at Farmville Middle School still "on", despite the snow? Or, has it been possibly rescheduled? Does anyone know?

I believe the meeting is still on.

At this point it appears to still be on. If anything changes, I'll update the story at this link: http://ashburn.patch.com/articles/one-loudoun-stadium-hearing-at-farmwell-station-tonight

The meeting is still on for this evening and people better get there early as there is supposed to possibly be quite a crowd showing up, both for, but even more against One Loudoun Stadium. Enough is enough, and Scott York and his gang need to be put on notice, tonight, that we're not going to take it anymore! People of Loudoun County are tired of the mess that Bob Farren has stirred up, the angst that he has brought on so many, and his total deceitful tactics in dealing with each member of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors. Scott York, and every member of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors should be ashamed at how they have also treated the public, with over disdain, whenever there has ever been any legitimate questions involving the pie-in-the-sky One Loudoun Stadium project. There's going to be more pissed off people at Farmwell Station, tonight, than Loudoun Hounds supporters, that's for sure.
