Voter Turnout Remains Steady
Leesburg voters continue to cast votes as election day continues.
Polls opened at 6 a.m. in Loudoun County this morning and will remain open until 7 p.m. So far, the election seems to be going as planned according to Chief Election Officer of the 502-East Leesburg Precinct Rich Claar.
“I think it’s been pretty good,” Claar said. “It’s been fairly steady, we haven’t any down time and there’s been a pretty good turn out.”
At 6 a.m. Claar said there were seven voters in line when he opened the doors to Frances Hazel Reid Elementary School. Since then, he estimated about 160 voters as of 9:30 a.m. The largest rush seems to be in the morning, he said, and so far people have been able to get in and get out.

“All elections are important so people should get out and vote. It’s really important to the community and to themselves,” Claar said. “This election is different than last year because it’s a different set of officers that are being voted for. So I think there’s more interest right now in that. But I think each election is a little bit different.”
